As a Southern Utah newborn photographer, there is nothing quite like documenting those first sleepy days with a brand new baby. Welcoming a new baby changes everything. The tiny details, sleepy snuggles, and first days together pass so quickly. Newborn photography gives families a chance to slow down and preserve those little moments before they change.

This sweet family of four came into The Studio Hurricane for their newborn photography session in Hurricane, Utah. I had photographed their family before, which made this session even more meaningful. I had already seen their family grow, and now I got to document them welcoming their newest little boy.

The Studio Hurricane gave us a cozy space to focus on their new baby and the connection between everyone.

The studio had a beautiful bed setup ready for newborn photos. I love using simple setups like this because they keep the attention on the baby and the family. The soft setting also gave us plenty of room for those sweet newborn snuggles and detail photos.

Another thing I love about the Studio Hurricane is that the entrance and studio is on ground level. No need to climb up or down stairs when mom is still healing from birth. 

Their baby boy settled into his swaddle beautifully. Once he was wrapped up and comfortable, we were able to capture some of those peaceful newborn moments that parents always want to remember.

At this age, even the smallest details feel important. Tiny fingers. Little toes. Sleepy expressions. The way a newborn fits so perfectly into their parents’ arms.

A Sweet Bond Between Two Brothers

One of my favorite parts of this Hurricane newborn session was watching the toddler brother love on his new baby brother.

He absolutely adored him.

Big siblings bring so much personality to newborn sessions. They may not always sit perfectly or follow every prompt, and that is exactly what makes their photos so special. Instead of trying to make everything perfectly posed, I love giving siblings space to interact naturally.

This little brother had so much excitement about his new role. His connection with the baby made for some of my favorite images from their session.

Including Mom, Dad, and Grandma

Newborn sessions are about more than just photographing the baby. They are about documenting the entire family during one of the biggest transitions in their lives.

Grandma joined us for this session and helped with the new family of four. It was such a sweet opportunity to photograph everyone together while also giving the new parents a little extra support.

We also captured some beautiful family moments with Mom, Dad, and both boys.

One especially sweet photo showed Mom holding their newborn while Dad spun their toddler around. That moment captured so much of their family dynamic. Their toddler got to have fun with Dad while Mom enjoyed a quiet moment with their new baby.

From Pregnancy Announcement to Newborn Photos

This session also felt extra special because I had photographed this family earlier in their journey.

They had previously come to me for photos by the red rocks when they announced their pregnancy. Now, they were back with their new baby.

Seeing that full-circle moment is one of my favorite parts of being a family photographer in Southern Utah. I get to document more than one milestone. I get to watch families grow and tell their stories along the way.

Their newborn session was not just about taking beautiful photos of their baby boy. It was about remembering what life looked like when their family first became four.
